Sat. - Nov. 6, - Day 1: Arrival in Mexico City. Upon arrival and clearing of customs we will be met by our tour manager and bilingual guide who will escort us to our historical district hotel. Upon check-in at our hotel, we are welcomed with a drink and orientation of the journey ahead of us. This evening is at your leisure to settle in to the flavor of Mexico. Overnight at Hampton Inn and Suites-Historical Center. D, WD Sun. - Nov. 7, - Day 2: This very special day begins with breakfast included at our hotel, before boarding our motor coach for a full day of sights, sounds, and faithful history, starting with the Plaza of the Three Cultures, where St. Juan Diego was baptized. We also see Tulpetiac and the sight of the Fifth Apparition. We then continue to the Shrine of Our lady of Guadalupe including a tour of the Basilica and the surrounding grounds. We will join in the celebration of mass. Lunch is included in the tour, and this afternoon we will visit the world famous Pyramids of the Sun and Moon, before returning to our hotel in Mexico City center. B, L, D - Hampton Inn and Suites - Historical Center Mon. - Nov. 8, - Day 3: After Breakfast, we'll start our day trip by heading to Huejotzingo where we'll visit the Convent of San Miguel and explore several cultural origins of the Mexican race: Spanish, Arabic, and Native American. Also we will visit the was the sight of the apparitions of St. Michael, the archangel to Diego Lazaro in 1631. Next, see the Cholula archaeological zone, home to the largest pyramid in the world. After a 3 course lunch, we reach colonial Puebla, a cosmopolitan city that preserves all its traditional flavor in its food, art and culture while at the same time offering all the amenities of a modern city. As you walk these beautiful streets, you'll be drawn in by the splendid architecture of the city's cathedral, homes, museums and cultural centers decorated with tiles and beautiful sculpted freestone. We'll also see the city's majestic Cathedral, Main Square, Chapel of the Rosary, Convent of Santa Monica, and Onyx and Talavera ceramics factories. Tonight we will enjoy the Colonial Hotel, which was originally a convent dating back to 1668, but now offers all the conveniences of modern day life within a historic monument. B, L - Colonial Hotel, Puebla Mexico or similar Tue. - Nov 9, - Day 4: This morning starts with breakfast at our hotel, mass and sightseeing in the beautiful city of Puebla. After Lunch we return to Mexico City via Ocotlan where the apparition of Our Lady of Ocotlan occurred in 1541 to Juan Diego Benardino, and hidden in a burnt ocote pine tree. We will also visit the church of San Francisco enroute back to Mexico City. This afternoon we settle into the Zona Rosa District, and the acclaimed Hotel Geneve. This evening dinner is included at the hotel with time to relax, or explore the area. B, L, D Hotel Geneve - Zona Rosa or similar Wed. - Nov 10, - Day 5: Today is officially at your leisure with breakfast included at the hotel for those who want to relax. For go getters, we have arranged a highly suggested optional tour to Taxco "Silver Capital of the World." and Cuernovaca, the city of eternal springtime. This tour will visit one of the oldest Cathedrals on the American Continent. Also included is the famous parish church of Santa Prisca with its impressive Churrigueresque art style. We'll stroll down Taxco's lovely cobblestone streets, admiring the silver work of skilled craftsmen. The charm and magic of Taxco allow you to discover a kind of romanticism that can only be found in one of Mexico's "Magical Countryside Towns". As you walk the narrow streets of the city, you'll admire the architecture Taxco's beautiful Cathedral which stands strikingly above the city. You will also have time to shop at the various shops and outdoor markets where precious silver items can be fetched at very affordable prices. To thoroughly enjoy the city, your guide will make sure you are aware of the frequent cultural events held in the many city squares and theaters. As the day winds down, we return to Mexico City with an evening at your leisure. B Hotel Geneve - Zona Rosa (Tour lasts approximately 10 hours roundtrip, includes lunch, sights, and all transportation) Thu. - Nov 11, - Day 6: Breakfast at our hotel begins our final full day in Mexico. Today we will squeeze in as much of Mexico City as possible. First stop is at the National Palace, then Constitution (Zocalo) Square, and Metropolitan Cathedral. Next is Chapultepec Park, Mexico City's most influential residential area, before arriving at the Museum of Anthropology, listed as one of the top ten museums in the world. We will break for a quick lunch before, passing by the World Trade Center, Monumental Bull Fighting Ring, and see the mosaic works of Diego Rivera. We will stop at the library, in University City, See the Olympic Stadium, and visit residences in San Angel featuring homes built on lava fields. Serenity arrives at the peaceful waters of the Xochimilco Canals. Here we will float the calm waters of ancient Aztec canals on pre hispanic boats. Our final stop is the impressive colonial district of Coyoacan, home of the original mansion of Hernando Cortes the famous conquistador, as well as the church of Saint John the Baptist. We will then return to our hotel in time for a quick freshen up before we enjoy our farewell dinner together. B, FD Hotel Geneve - Zona Rosa Fri. - Nov 12, - Day 7: Today we say adios to Mexico with a final breakfast at our hotel, before transferring to the airport and our nonstop flight to Denver.
OPTIONAL EXTENSION TOUR:Fri. - Nov. 12 - Day 7: Upon arrival you will be escorted on a city tour of Guadalajara, including the Minerva Fountain, the Arches, University of Guadalajara and the Explatorio Church. Next we venture to the Tlaquepaque, a famous artisan village, where many of the colonial mansions have been turned into shops of arts and crafts. Our final destination is the historic downtown with it's magnificent colonial buildings. We will see the government palace, Degollado Theatre, Tapatia Plaza, and the many charming squares throughout the district. After settling into our downtown hotel, we will gather for a relaxing dinner Guadalajara style. The hotel itself is a destination, as the The Hotel Morales is classified as Artistic Heritage and Architectural Jewel of the city of Guadalajara.B, D -Hotel Morales Historical & Colonial Downtown or similar Sat.- Nov. 13, - Day 8: Breakfast at the hotel begins a day at leisure to explore on your own, or let us organize one of many available excursions of the area. B - Hotel Morales HIstorical & Colonial Downtown Sun.- Nov. 14,- Day 9: It is an early day as we check-out and transfer to the airport for our flight home. |
