Mar. 8, Tues. Day 1: Denver – San Francisco – Shanghai - Meet and Greet with your escort Dave Duncan of Walkabout at Denver DIA airport this morning, where a group check-in and assistance will be provided prior to departure. In San Francisco we connect with our Air China’s wide body jetliner to Shanghai. Our flight crosses the International Date Line en-route, arriving in Shanghai the following evening. Meals on flights.
Mar. 9, Wed. Day 2: Shanghai – 5 Star Hotel - Upon arrival this evening, and clearing customs, we will be met by our English speaking guides and tour manager. After securing and portage of our baggage, we will transfer to our 5 star Hotel for a well-deserved rest.
Mar. 10, Thu. Day 3: Shanghai – Yuyuan Garden – Bund - Acrobatic Show - After an included breakfast at the hotel, we venture out into Shanghai, a subtropical port town, of world renown. Visit Bund, Shanghai’s official waterfront district, and The Intl. area developed in the colonial era. Next we stroll the Yuyuan Gardens, located in the historic Old Quarter. Family style dinner tonight & Acrobatic Show. B, L, D, Show
Mar. 11, Fri. Day 4: Shanghai – Xi'an – Wild Goose Pagoda – Art & Handicraft Factory - Today we catch a breakfast and a flight to the ancient city of Xi’an (She – on). This walled city houses the majestic Wild Goose Pagoda, and a glimpse at a bustling industrial city. After an included lunch we will visit a local art and Handicraft factory to see the many “made in China” products and processes. This evening, enjoy your surroundings at our 5 star hotel with dinner. Mar. 12, Sat. Day 5: Xi’an–Terra Cotta Warriors- Dumpling Dinner- Tang Dynasty Show - Today is a day you will remember for a lifetime, as we visit the Army of the Terra Cotta Warriors. This mind-boggling spectacle was created over 2,200 years ago to protect the Emperor Qin Shi Huang in his afterlife. Terra Cotta soldiers are still being excavated today, as this Army will amaze you in scope and detail. This afternoon we visit the ancient city walls, and a perspective of the inner village of Xi’an. A special dumpling dinner and Cultural show is included this evening. The Tang Dynasty Cultural Show features traditional dancing and musical instruments of this ancient dynasty. B, L, Dinner & Show
Mar. 13, Sun. Day 6: Xi’an – Chongqing - Panda Zoo - City Tour - M.S. Yangtze Angel – Breakfast is at the hotel prior to our flight to Chongqing (Chung-king). Upon arrival we will make stops at the Panda Zoo, and other sights of the city. This afternoon we will board our 5 Star, chartered river cruise ship, the M.S. Yangtze Angel. This evening is a dinner and time to settle into our Balcony staterooms. B, L, D
Mar. 14, Mon. Day 7: Yangtze Cruise – Fengdu – Capt. Cocktail Party - Our custom designed exploration of the Yangtze begins as we head down river along one of the busiest waterways on earth. Our first included shore excursion stops at the bizarre Temple of Fengdu known as ghost city. The temple depicts & honors death, with interesting sculptures and figures. Fengdu is also a residential area for many of the displaced villagers moved for the Three Gorges Dam Project.Cruise down the river. A shore excursion to the ancient city of Wanxian or Fengdu, which is a residential area for the new immigrants. Visit the local farmer’s market and kindergarten. Enjoy a welcome cocktail party hosted by the captain.. B, L, D, Party
Mar. 15, Tues. Day 8: Yangtze Cruise -Scenic Gorge Cruising–Shennong Stream-The Locks Today we pass through Qutang Gorge and Wu Gorge (two of the Three Gorges). Then, a shore excursion to the Three Lesser Gorges. In the afternoon, pass through the new three gorges ship-locks.. We see into the daily lives of these river dwellers. This afternoon is another cruising highlight as we enter and navigate the newly famous Three Gorges Ship-Locks. B, L, D
Mar. 16, Wed. Day 9: Yangtze River – Three Gorges Dam – Xiling Gorge – Banquet - Today we will examine first hand, the largest River Dam site in the world. We will see the massive spillway, and construction of this 5 stage Dam. Continuing down river, we float the last of the Three Gorges. The Xiling Gorge makes a fitting backdrop to our cruise. Tonight celebrate with a special Farewell Banquet. B, L, Banquet
Mar. 17, Thu. Day 10: Yangtze River – Jingzhou – Wuhan – Provincial Museum – Our cruise concludes this morning in Jingzhou where we disembark & travel to Wuhan to visit the Hubei Provincial Museum. Enjoy the city sights before checking into our riverside hotel. B, L, D
Mar. 18, Fri. Day 11: Beijing – Summer Palace – Tiannanmen Square – Forbidden City - Today we fly to Beijing, Capital City of China. Explore the ornate Summer Palace, the summer resort for Empress Dowager Ci Xi, featuring a lakeside palace. Then visit famous Tiananmen Square, & The Forbidden City-the emperor’s home for more than 500 years. This evening enjoy our 5-Star accommodations with dinner. B, L, D
Mar. 19, Sat. Day 12: Great Wall of China – Bird’s Nest Stadium – Peking Duck Dinner - Today is a day of contrasts you will remember forever. Starting with one of the 7 ancient wonders of the world, (still visible from space) the Great Wall of China is a monument of massive proportions that simply must be seen to believe. We will take time to “walk the wall” and examine the massive efforts of the ancients. After lunch, we move into the modern age of technology by visiting Beijing‘s Bird’s Nest Olympic National Stadium. This architectural marvel is an excellent example of the “New China”. This evening we step back into tradition & dine on Peking Duck. B, L, D
Mar. 20, Sun. Day 13: Beijing At Leisure – Optional Excursions – Shopping - China is in constant motion with unlimited things to do and see, but today is at your own pace to enjoy a last look at China. We will have optional excursions available, and assist you with your shopping needs. This evening we will casually say goodbye to our guides and staff with an informal get-together. B

Mar. 17, Thu. Day 10: Yangtze River – Jingzhou – Wuhan – Provincial Museum – Gulin - We conclude our cruise this morning in Jingzhou where we will disembark and travel to Wuhan. Here we visit the Hubei Provincial Museum, and then transfer to the airport for our flight to Guilin. Our hotel is a destination in itself at the 5 Star Waterfall hotel. Our hotel literally drops 1000’s of gallons of water from the roof in a lighted waterfall presentation. Dinner is provided tonight at our hotel. B, L, D
Mar. 18, Fri. Day 11: Guilin – Li River Cruise – Reed Flute Caves – Elephant Trunk Hill - After breakfast, we explore yet another great river of China. Our full day of cruising passes picturesque farms, fishing villages, and thousands of limestone outcroppings. The Li River has been the backdrop for many movies, and the inspiration of generations of scroll painters. Shore excursions include the Reed Flute Caves and the unique Elephant Trunk Hill. B, L, D
Mar. 19, Sat Day 12: Guilin – Ghangzhou (Canton) – Train to Hong Kong – Sun Yat-sen Hall - This morning we fly to Ghangzhou, where we visit the Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall & see the local cityscapes prior to boarding our afternoon train. This scenic train shows us the Chinese countryside as we enter the territory of Hong Kong. Upon arrival we will check into our luxury Hong Kong hotel. This evening enjoy the 24/7 hustle and bustle of Hong Kong. B, L
Mar. 20, Sun Day 13: Hong Kong – Victoria Cable Car – Aberdeen – Repulse Bay - Today highlights the main sights of Hong Kong, with panoramic views of this amazing city from it’s highest point at Victoria Peak, as a gondola transfers us to a birds-eye view of the city. Back at sea level we see the communities of Aberdeen and Repulse Bay. This afternoon is left available for shopping and exploring with assistance from your escort. This evening we will go out and about casually to see the city at night from both sides of the bay. B
Mar. 21, Mon Day 14: Hong Kong – Beijing - This morning is at your leisure to enjoy Hong Kong. This afternoon we will fly to Beijing, the Capital City of China and settle into our 5 Star hotel. This evening dinner is provided with time for exploring. B, D
Mar. 22, Tues. Day 15: Beijing – Summer Palace – Tiannanmen Square – Forbidden City - This morning we immediately begin exploring at the elaborate Summer Palace. This was the summer resort for Empress Dowager Ci Xi, and features her lakeside palace. This afternoon we visit the famous Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City, home of the emperors for more than 500 years. We will examine the lifestyle and surroundings of the ancient emperors. This evening enjoy our 5 star accommodations with dinner. B, L, D
Mar. 23, Wed. Day 16: Great Wall of China – Bird’s Nest Stadium – Peking Duck Dinner - Today is one of those days that will forever be etched in your mind, as we explore one of the 7 ancient wonders of the world. Still visible from space, the Great Wall of China is a monument of massive proportions that simply must be seen to believe. We will take time to walk along the wall and examine the massive efforts of the ancients. After a leisurely lunch, we move into the modern age of technology with Beijing’s newest wonder of the world. The Bird’s Nest Beijing Olympic National Stadium is an architectural marvel, and excellent example of the “New China”. This evening we step back into tradition with a Peking Duck Dinner Banquet. Mar. 24, Thu. Day 17: Beijing – Denver - All amazing journeys must come to an end, and today is our return to our homeland. After breakfast we will make our way to the airport, and our direct flights to Denver. We expect to arrive home by this evening as we end our Walkabout. B, L
